Why Focus on Ways to Speed up Metabolism not on Ways to Lose Weight?

The main purpose of food is to provide our bodies with enough energy for all its functions to happen naturally and healthily.  The largest food categories are fat, protein and carbohydrates.  Fat is the most concentrated source of energy.

When you eat foods that contain more energy than you need this is stored in your body as fat cells.  When you need more energy than you consume in the food you eat, your body taps into fat you have stored in these cells.

If you are overweight you need to focus on ways to speed up metabolism, no just ways to lose weight.  But how do you do this?  The most important response is to start thinking about losing fat not weight.

The chief user of energy in our body is our muscle tissue.  Because muscles are so active and work so much they need plenty of energy.  They burn calories eighteen times faster than fat cells.  As a result, developing healthier muscles enables you to both use stored fat and eat more without gaining unwanted weight. 

The outcome of this change to your body’s shape and overall health is not always measurable on the bathroom scales.  Sometimes you can lose fat and increase muscle mass without showing any change in your weight. 

For some, ways to speed up metabolism includes restrictive diets which severely limit the fats and proteins necessary for their body’s functions.  The outcome of this is the body’s use of muscle tissue for the nutrients they are lacking though their diet.  Ultimately this diminishes the very tissue that the body needs most to burn fat.

The real secret to staying trim and healthy is identifying the kinds of healthy foods that best supply your body with its requirements and eating the right amount of these.  Combine this with some regular and enjoyable exercise and you will enjoy a great body shape and ongoing good health.  These are key ways to speed up metabolism and burn your unwanted fat and get healthy.  Your weight loss will follow.
